As far as the best cabins, our guide said he liked 18, 19, and 20. I know there is not much they can do but it lessened the ambiance. While you feel like you are in your own "safari bubble" I was disappointed that we could still hear all the traffic from the main road outside - trucks, cars, etc. The flamingos seem to be the loudest animals so I was glad we were up on the hill so it was more of a background noise than a constant disturbance. They do suggest earplugs but I didn't need them. The bathroom is spacious but also vented to the outside so watch out for those chilly mornings! I could have wished for more light and more hooks in the bathroom. The beds were comfy and lots of pillows! There is one fan in the main room. This was sufficient to keep us warm through the night. Each bed has a heated blanket and there is a space heater. Both my kids (who are not that tall and have bunks at home) kept hitting their heads. However, the space between the bottom and top bunks seems very short. We wish we had brought binoculars! My kids were thrilled for the bunk beds. There were some trees blocking our view but we could make out some giraffes in the distance. There is a seating area outside with a table, 4 chairs, and an umbrella. ACCOMODATIONS: We loved our tent! As noted above they provide you a cooler outside with bottles of water and will bring you more ice as needed. She brought a bag of ice for the provided cooler outside and gave us flashlights. She offered to drive us up to our tent in a Jeep Wrangler which my 7 yr old son was thrilled about! She even carried our bags to the door. Kayla (?) was kind enough to come out and help me check in. When we arrived for check in there was already someone checking in the office (only 1 party at a time) so I waited outside. They were very accommodating - no questions asked. I will list out the pros and cons and then you can read a more detailed review below! PROS: - Friendly staff - Knowledgeable and patient tour guide - Jeep offered to help bring bags to/from your room - Cooler provided with ice and bottles of water - Flashlights also provided - Freedom to walk around the animal exhibits at any time - Meal service (Bfast, lunch) handled well - good food - Very clean! CONS: - Would have liked more light, hooks in the bathroom - Space between bottom and top bunk seems very short, both my kids kept hitting their heads - No signage explaining the different animal exhibits - I felt the cheetah got the short end of the stick, stuck way in the back for the walking tour - Can still hear street noise from the main road - trucks, cars, etc - Lawnmowers running during walking part of tour - Not enough time on the top of the truck TIPS: - Bring binoculars - Bring small telescope - Bring slippers- floors are cold! - For safari (if early morning or cool) bring your own blanket, hand warmers - No cell service at your tent but there is wifi in the eating area and near the office - They already mention this but leave your porch light on, close your windows and turn on the heater when you go out so it's warm when you get back! Our original trip was scheduled for Labor Day weekend but due to the heat and poor air quality, we switched to Oct. We stayed 2 nights in Oct in a king/ bunk tent (#10) which I think is considered the hillside. Myself, my husband, and 2 kids (7 and 8) just came back from a wonderful "glamping" trip at Safari West.
